Behind Limit Break

Limit Break is founded and organised by me - Anisa Sanusi, a UI/UX Designer based in London!

During my time in the games industry, I’ve hit many roadblocks and some generally very shitty times. I felt alone, unsure what to do, and wished I had someone to get advice from. The thought of randomly e-mailing another professional, or even worse, sliding into their DM’s…. was one heck of an anxiety trip to the moon and back. I wished so bad there was something that could be that bridge between me and a person who could help.

And so, here we are. Wishing for a bridge to appear isn’t enough. I’m building that goddamn bridge and I want people to use it.

Anyway, here’s some stuff I’ve done prior to Limit Break, cuz I bet you’re like “who the heck is Anisa and why should we care what she’s doing”:

  • Talked at the first UX Summit at GDC in San Francisco

  • Judged for the BAFTA Games Awards for multiple years

  • GamesIndustry.Biz Top 100 Influential Women in the UK Games Industry

  • Develop Magazines 30 Under 30

  • Part of Ensemble, advocating BAME talent with London Games Festival

  • Legit met the Mayor of London once, he said I was cool so we’re practically besties now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And yes, Limit Break is a gentle nod towards Final Fantasy VII

Special Thanks

Limit Break wouldn’t have become a reality if it weren’t for the support and encouragement of my friends. I’d like to personally give them a shout out for all their help:

Thanks to Nick, Anna, Caitlin, Fran, Kate and Kate who gave me confidence to turn my idea into an actual Google doc file and so the beginnings of a Real Thing. Lottie, who over a chat at Coven Club gave me initial practical advice to kick things off. Ally for being the giant whose shoulders I stand on, giving me all the resources from Working Lunch. Sam who helped me set up a working website and email, and Luke for animating my logo!

And of course, to all the invited mentors who wanted to make a difference and help others like them.

No woman is an island, and I wouldn’t have gotten this far without each of you! Thank you!
